They don't feel pressured to listen to Christian music, read only Christian books, etc. They realize it's cool to love Jesus and listen to Skynyrd, too.

Jesus did the best job of being indigenous--the stories he told, the metaphors he used, etc. We can certainly imitate Him in this way without "being someone else."aaronsaufleyhttp://aaronsaufley.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2253529165034405240.post-21402098650719809242008-04-14T14:02:00.000-04:002008-04-14T14:02:00.000-04:00Vince,When we launched the church where we serve a...Vince,
When we launched the church where we serve and lead, we had been living in the area for 5 years. My teammate and I had both served churches for those 5 years in that community. We asked and received their blessing to begin this new ministry. We could have moved to a big city, to the burbs somewhere, but we knew the culture here, we understood the people here, we already had contacts and neighbors here. That has made a huge difference, in my opinion. I think, in many respects you're right - we are who we are. I don't see The Journey being much different if we were somewhere else, but I also think, I wouldn't be the person to lead it on the north shore of Chicago, or in Austin. It feels like God uniquely designed me to the kind of culture we now find ourselves in, along the lakeshore of Michigan.journeypaulwww.paulurban.blogs.comnoreply@blogger.com
