I love what Bob Roberts is saying on his blog today about local church planting.
By the way, do you know why we so desperately need more new effectively evangelistic new churches? Check out this post and you also may want to see this graph.
And, by the way, the point of church planting is that it is the most effective way to reach large numbers of lost people.
And, by the way, the point of reaching lost people is God's heart. It beats for His children who are far from Him, that's why He sent His Son to bleed for them. The reason we want to reach lost people is because we love God.

Question: How do we as planters encourage our local churches to become churches that plant other churches? As a self-funded independent church plant, this is something that's been on my mind A LOT lately!
Good question. I'm not sure of the answer, but here's a few ideas: 1. Teach them about the effectiveness of new churches - show them numbers. 2. Take them to visit a healthy new church so they can feel the excitement. 3. Bring them to a good church planting conference like Exponential. 4. Give them a good church planting book, like "The Multiplying Church" or "Planting Missional Churches." 5. Pray for it.
