Rock Out on Easter

Hope you all have a fantastic Easter.

Remember, if there's a Sunday where we're going to have people who are far from God in our services, this is it. But Easter may also bring with it some extra temptations to be "religious" and to play out confusing traditions, and to make assumptions that we all believe the same things.

So let's be careful out there! Let's be normal, let's explain our traditions so no one is in the dark, and let's not make any assumptions at all.

It feels good to be on the "inside" and to impress our people; but newcomers don't enjoy feeling like they're on the outside and we need to make sure we connect with them. Their eternities are just way too important to ignore....

Confusing?? Confusing is right for sure but if we should steer clear of confusing traditions we'd have to redo the whole shebang. Why don't we be rebels and drop the easter moniker and celebrate resurrection Sunday on the date we think it happened??? Who's with me?....Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? We could then make our regular easter service a day where we break down the etymolgy of the word and discuss dating problems and the early church moving from passover to 14 nisan, yada, yada, yada. That would REALLY be steering clear of confusing tradition

Or maybe we could just skip stressing over the confusing tradition stuff and say hey I know this holiday moves around on our calendar but it's the day we Christians celebrate Jesus conquering death and ultimately giving us eternal life that starts not when our bodies die but when we trust him. And since we now have thatlet's go share thatknowledge and love with everyone.

Sorry for the hint of sarcasm it just bugs me that we worry about trivial junk sometimes. The wholestraining the gnat thing.

I'll shut up now

Enjoy tomorrow whatever you call it and remember you entered into eternity already if your a Christian so start living like it...Ooops I guess I better go take my own advice!

Just curious - are you the same "anonymous" who I've been debating with about whether Jesus would have watched a movie, and whether me going to a movie is (ethically) the same as me giving my assent to an innocent person being eaten by a lion??
