Lousy Book

My book comes out in one week. I really can't believe that - it's a bit surreal, but I also suspect it's going to be anticlimatic as well. Like most events you wait for in life, when they happen, something happens. You know? Like your baby is born, you have a baby! You have the grand opening of your church plant, you have a church now. But your book comes out, and ... ummmm, I think nothing will happen.

Last week I was able to spend time with the people at Baker Books (the publisher) and they are great people and I'm honored to work with them.

The coolest thing so far is that I now have a copy of the book. It's really humbling to read the endorsements:

"The funniest and most sincere spiritual growth book I've ever experienced," Craig Groeschel.

"This book will make you laugh and make you think. It will also make you reexamine your life. If you're serious about trading in your souvenir religion for authentic spiritual passion, this book is a must-read," Mark Batterson

"This is a book that will entertain you, inspire you, and help you experience everything God has for you. Read it and share it with a friend," Dave Ferguson

"This book is a breath of fresh air," Jud Wilhite

"Vince is one of those rare pastors and writers who is both hilarious and substantial," Brian McLaren

"You won't put it down," John Burke

"This book will transform Christian culture," Ben Arment

"I can't remember a time when I've been so encouraged and challenged by the same book," Brian Jones

I don't know if it's that good (!!) but I am excited for people to read it. If you do read it, and have something positive to say, please do me a favor and leave a review it on Amazon. Thanks!

not until i save a little girl's drowning puppy in a lake, while tutoring an underpriviledged kid, and do the whole thing bald because i've donated all my hair to locks of love should anyone want my autograph; and at that point it will be kind of a wet autograph...

Do you even have enough hair for that?? ...I've started listening to the messages - great stuff Vince! Can't wait to do this series for Phoenix Church!!

Thanks Charles. The messages that we're providing for the campaign are sometimes different than the one's I'm preaching. The reason is because some of the stories that I'm using at Forefront are also in the book, but NOTHING in the sermons we're providing with the campaign is in the book. The web site should be up any day now. If you want a preview of almost all the videos we're offering, go to: http://jasonbedell.blogspot.com/2008/01/lousy-t-shirt-downloads.html. Also, you can now order the books. For at least a month or two, they're going to be available at 50% off the cover price for cases (of 20). So it's $6.50/book, or $130 per case. But if you sell them for, say, $10 (which is $3.00 off the cover price) you can make $3.50 per book.

I am thinking about getting the book & doing the series. But I have one question - if I read the book, will I get fed?

I got mine in the mail just now from Barnes & Noble. I'm very excited!

m@ - i pray that you won't get fed, i don't want you to become a thumb-sucking, lazy baby. if you do somehow get fed by this book, i apologize.

jill: thanks for ordering it! i really hope it's not only enjoyable to read, but that God will somehow speak to you through it and it will draw you closer to Him and the life He has for you. If you like it, please do me a favor and put up a review on Amazon. My book publisher people say that will help. Thanks!

No to Oprah (but I would love to jump up and down on her couch and proclaim my love for Jen) and yes to having them at the Hub Table. We'll have them for $10 (it's $13 at bookstores).
